Lucy Forbes has extensive experience in all aspects of Civil Appellate Law.
Lucy has drafted briefs and petitions to the appellate courts and the Texas Supreme Court and presented oral arguments. She has handled all manner of appellate issues and strategy at the trial and appellate courts.
She has experience with preservation of error and the the jury charge. She has also handled post-verdict and post-judgment strategy and motions, including supersedeas bond issues.
Lucy Forbes graduated from the Baylor Law School in 1998, in the top 9% of her class. She was the managing editor of the Baylor Law Review.
Before then, she graduated from the University of Houston, Main Campus, with a Bachelor of Science Degree, major in Biology, minor in Chemistry.
Before starting her own Firm, Lucy worked as a trial associate at Baker Botts; a staff attorney at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals; and an appellate associate at Wright, Brown & Close (now known as Wright, Close & Barger).
Lucy's colleagues elected her as Director of the State Bar of Texas for Harris County, District 4.
Her 3-year term is from June 25, 2020 to June 30, 2023.
The State Bar of Texas is governed by a board of directors with 46 voting members from across the state, including 30 attorneys from 17 geographical districts.
Lucy is proud to serve as an Officer, and is the immediate Past President, on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists. TACTAS members include only attorneys and judges who are Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law, Civil Trial Law, or Personal Injury Trial Law. She has been on the Board since September of 2016 and her term as Treasurer began September of 2018.
Lucy is the immediate past Ex Officio State Bar of Texas Liaison to the Houston Bar Association Board of Directors. She is currently a Co-Chair of the HBA's Membership.
Lucy is proud to serve as a Council Member for a 3-year term from September 2020 to 2023 of the State Bar of Texas Appellate Section. She serves as Co-Chair of the Social Media Committee. Her term as Co-Chair of Committees began September of 2018.
